This is a simple fact that dogs have been transforming our lives for a long time and in different ways. However, this fact for one veterinary technician in Killeen, Texas is absolutely true. She felt it even before she laid her eyes on the dog couple rooms down. She had seen some horrible things during the three years she spent but nothing could have prepared her for this.
It started when Danielle Torgerson started hearing agonizing moans and screams of a dog down the hall. She couldn’t help but investigate the matter further and as she expected, she found a dog on the exam table. The dog’s owner was there too, claiming that the dog had been bit by bees. It was even hard to look at the dog becaue his face had been swollen, lips burned away and the eyelids were removed too. She quickly figured that the dog had been arrived there to be euthanized.
There were extensive injuries that the dog was suffering and the staff warned Danielle that the cost of the dog’s treatment would be thousands of dollars. Nonetheless, Danielle took her home and named her D’Artagnan, Mr. D for short. As time passed, the dog started to get better and became a very loving dog and three years later, in 2010, Danielle had an accident and had her skull fractured after a collision with a motorcycle. She remained in coma for 12 days and she woke up on the 13th day and the first thing that came out of her mouth was "Mr. D”. This was an absolutely emotional reunion when Danielle met with Mr. D and other dogs.
The rehabilitation and getting perfect was a lengthy process but she took it slowly and Mr. D and other dogs gave her the strength to survive. It was then that Danielle learned what Mr. D truly meant to her and they had created an inseparable bond that would last for long.
